Our mission is to provide support and opportunities for underprivileged children around the globe in order to lead them into a brighter future. We believe that all children should have access to the same opportunities, no matter their financial status, geographic location, or ethnicity.
During class one day, our Panamanian Spanish teacher, Mrs. Elsa Glasford, told us of her background. She came from a very poor community in Panama, where children had little to no education or financial support. Her family then moved to Panama City and Mrs. Glasford was able to further her studies. She didn't lose her focus and finally managed to come to America for college. Now she is an amazing Spanish teacher spreading her wealth of knowledge to others and making the world a better place. Her journey from a Panamanian school girl to an American teacher on her way to a PhD inspired us to give aid to other children that live in similar conditions, so they can also live life to its full potential.
Mrs. Glasford has impacted our lives in a way no other adult has. Libby and I have both lived our lives with a substantial amount of love and support from our family and community. But that is not the same for everyone. We have realized that just because there are borders between us doesn't mean that all of us should live any differently. We often take for granted what we are born with and don’t take full advantage of our potential; we forget there are others who don’t have the chances we do. The Children’s Assistance Initiative is here to provide just that: a better chance at a better future as citizens of a global community.
